April 27, 2007 marks exactly ninety years since the birth of a famous scientist and a wonderful person, an honorary member of the Society of Surgeons of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ivan Antonovich Petukhov. Ivan Antonovich worked in medicine for over fifty five years, including about 30 years at the Vitebsk Medical Institute. During this time, he published more than a hundred scientific papers, published a number of manuals for doctors and students. Under the leadership of Ivan Antonovich over ten theses were prepared. High professional skills, integrity, efficiency, organizational talent, love for young people, warm-heartedness, care earned Ivan Antonovich enormous prestige and deep respect of colleagues, students and patients.
