Based on interviews with pastors of the time and extensive research in church and state archives, the monograph describes the various strategies by which the church of the time, forcibly suppressed, ostracized and driven into the ghetto of congregational life after the liberation of the 1960s, attempted to preserve its free spirit. Without evaluating the political and civic engagement of individuals, overestimating the split between the official line and the dissenting layers, or favoring a perspective focused on the spiritual life of the church and its members, it seeks to provide a nuanced view of the dynamics of relations in the whole community, with special attention to the motif of solidarity.
