This is a historical and documentary story about the life and service of the Russian naval officer Dmitry Filippovich Mikhailov (1881-1938). The work is based on family documents, archival data and illustrations collected in Vladivostok (including from the funds of the V.K.Arseniev Museum), Khabarovsk, Onega, Arkhangelsk, St. Petersburg, as well as in Japan. The author gives documentary evidence and memories of the Tsushima battle, the stay of Russian sailors in Japanese captivity, the Russian spiritual mission in Japan, information about the ships of the Russian Imperial Navy and the Naval Forces of the Far East. Some materials and illustrations are published for the first time.
