A new book about the life of our ancestors by the successful writer and ethnographer Zora Mintalova Zubercova. It was created in collaboration with designer, photographer and illustrator Vladimir Holina, so the picture part of the book is as attractive as the text. The book presents life in the past centuries through approximately 300 colour photographs taken in several Slovak open-air museums. Readers can thus enter a village or a town, step into the homesteads, yards and houses of different strata of the population. They will get to know the house of a landless man, a village servant, a shepherd and a sheep breeder, the homesteads of small and medium-sized peasants, the farms of rich landlords, the house of a vineyard owner, the workshops of craftsmen, the house of a rihtar, the curios of landowners and the residences of the middle nobility. They will see furnished rooms, how a family of several members slept, a period shop and school, objects in the pit, black and light kitchen, in the chamber, as well as domestic and farm work and tools and craftsmen's tools. The book is complemented by black and white photographs of vanished field, farm or household work, also capturing a believable atmosphere.
