Johannes Voigt (1786-1863) left a noticeable mark on the historiography of the German (Teutonic) Order and East Prussia. It was under him that history began to acquire its own identity at the University of Königsberg, which is why he is rightly called the "father of Prussian historiography". Many of his works have become classics and have not lost their relevance to this day. "The History of the Lizard Society in Prussia from Newly Discovered Sources" was the first study of a little-known page in the history of the German Order in Prussia - the "Lizard Union". In 1823, Voigt published it as a separate book. Since then, it has become a textbook, but has never been reprinted until today.
