Written by a professor of Moscow Theological Academy Alexei Lebedev in 1882 as an answer to critical reclamations to his thesis for a Doctor's degree from archbishop A.Ivantsov-Platonov, the book reveals anticriticism and scientific impetuosity that enabled Lebedev to state a numerousness of important thoughts concerning the issue of the ecumenical councils of the IVth - Vth centuries, as well as religious studies in general and particularly his creative method.
