The subject of research of this book is the great social and political changes that took place in Serbia between 1878 and 1903. This period is bounded by two events significant for the political history of Serbia. To start this research, I take the Berlin Congress in 1878, to which Serbia becomes an independent state, which opens up a whole series of modernization issues. The end was determined by the May Revolution in 1903, which marks the end of the rule of the Obrenovic dynasty and the coming to power of the Karadjordjevic dynasty, but which ends with the entire era of "political modernization of the country" started by acquiring its independence. By the decision of the Berlin Congress in 1878.
