Yugoslavia was the most unsuccessful European state of the 20th century. There is no state in Europe that, in the seventy years of its existence, from December 1918 to January 1992, was created twice and fell apart twice in the seas of blood of its inhabitants — in world, interstate and civil wars of its "South Slavic tribes" and its "fraternal peoples and nationalities". The first Yugoslavia lasted less than 22 years, and the second less than 47 years — together they survived less than the average lifespan of European citizens. All economic and political arrangements were tried to preserve that state: it was capitalist and socialist, monarchical and republican, unitary and federalist, pluralistic and monistic, the king's right-wing dictatorship and the marshal's left-wing dictatorship. It was in the West and the East, undecided and non-aligned. Nothing helped.
The left-wing academic, political, cultural and media camp shows astonishing resistance and indifference to the findings of foreign scientific researchers on the war and post-war mass crimes of the Yugoslav government, the aggressive Yugoslav foreign policy towards neighboring countries in the post-war years, the anti-Semitic character of the Non-Aligned Movement in which Yugoslavia played an important or even key role, the autocratic nature of almost all of its members, which made them the scene of the worst kinds of political violence, including "post-colonial genocides", dramatic forms of suppression of human and civil rights and freedoms in the country, the repressive policies of the regime, and the incredible scale of the cult of personality.
