The project “Evacuation to the Urals. Sverdlovsk. 1941-1945” is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Yekaterinburg and for the first time tells in detail about the evacuation, which played an important role in the history of Yekaterinburg. During the war, 832 of the largest defense enterprises of the USSR were moved to the Urals. Sverdlovsk became one of five centers for the temporary accommodation of people and 212 factories from the regions affected by the war. The book has five chapters devoted to different aspects of life in evacuated Sverdlovsk – industry, space, railway, culture, everyday life. Their authors were famous Ural scientists.
