The collection consists of reports and abstracts of reports by participants of the IInd Polivanov Readings. The presented materials cover different aspects of estate culture: history of estate building in the Volga and Simbirsk Provinces, architecture of country and town estates, collection of works of art and libraries, literature, music, theater in estate culture, and genre culture of the Simbirsk estate. Some reports are devoted to the phenomenon of nobility's culture as it is reflected in the works of West-European and Russian literature, and to history of religious movements in the Simbirsk Province in the XIXth century.
