Historical and cultural aspects of Czech-Russian relations. Czech-Russian cultural contacts have continuity. Initially, they were preceded by study tours, trips of economic necessity, the boom of the “gold rush,” trade, diplomatic, which later contributed to academic rapprochement.
Even from ancient monuments and chronicles it is clear that already in the 10th century. Russian merchants arrived in Prague and friendly relations were established between the Czech and Russian princely courts.
The chronicler Nestor wrote that there was “peace and love” between the Kyiv prince Vladimir and the Czech prince.
In the 15-16 centuries. Representatives of the Hussites and the Czech Brothers repeatedly visit Russia to get acquainted with Russian Orthodoxy, which they wanted to join, being in opposition to the Pope. And in 1571, the bishop of the Czech Brothers community, Jan Blagoslav, completed the work “Czech Grammar,” where he twice speaks about the Russian people and the Russian language. In 1602, the second edition of this work was published under the title “Moscow Chronicle”. From this fact it is clearly clear that this work was of interest to Czech readers. In this work, Czech readers became acquainted with the meanings of many Russian words that reflect the life of the Russian people.
After the Battle of Belogorsk, some Czechs emigrated to Russia. At this time, closer contacts were established with the Russian intelligentsia. In the 16-17 centuries. Embassies of Russian tsars come to Prague or pass through it, negotiating about the danger threatening from Turkey.
