In the 1960's Sergey Dovlatov and Igor Efimov - coevals, compatriots and old friends - were the members of the famous Leningrad literary group "Gorozhane". Several years later, in the 1970's, both writers emigrated to the USA: Dovlatov settled down in New York, Efimov established his own publishing house in New Jersey. Nevertheless, their friendship was not interrupted and continued thanks to letters and rare meetings.
