The book is based on memoirs of the first migrants from various parts of the USSR who moved to lands of the former Eastern Prussia after WWII. First stages of the Kaliningrad Region forced settlement such as recruitment, removal, first impressions, getting fixed up in a job, search of lodging, everyday life, etc. are traced. Authors also tell about Germans who stayed in this new Russian land after the war, about their mutual relations with Soviet people, about the deportation of Germans to Germany.
