The history of the Drohobych saltworks from ancient times to the present is explored in the collective monograph based on archival materials, press publications, and historiographical studies. The authors reveal the following aspects: sociotopographical, industrial, commercial, and legal topos of salt making in Drohobych in the 14th–18th centuries; saltworks during the Austrian rule at the end of the 18th - the beginning of the 20th century; the state of the saltworks in the interwar period of the 20th century and the years of the Second World War; the operation of the salt extraction plant under the conditions of the Soviet economic system (1945–1991); transformational processes, industrial-production and tourist-cultural vectors of the activity of the salt distilling plant during the days of Ukraine's independence.
