The present work is based on the author's four-year long diplomatic mission in Kishinev. The young state of the Republic of Moldova, "the second Romanian state in the European Council" had to face all the difficulties regarding the detachment from the former Soviet Empire, economic relations between the ex-states of the CIS and the danger of being trapped in the influential circle of Moscow in the political and military domains.
