The scientific monograph Dimensions of Slovak Etymology brings the author's etymological interpretations of more than 60 expressions from the current literary Slovak language, older periods of the development of the Slovak language and Slovak dialects. The examined lexicon (words preserved in Slovak from the Proto-Slavic period, expressions created during the development of Slovak as an independent Slavic language, lexemes taken from other languages) is etymologized in broader Slavic and Central European contexts; its practical analysis - aimed at arriving at a complex etymological characteristic of a specific word - at the same time vividly illustrates the diversity and variety of research procedures and methods used in contemporary etymological science.
