This work considers trends and regularities in the development of the Far Eastern macro-region in the modern period, which are characterized, on the one hand, by institutional transformations aimed at attracting labor and capital to the macro-region and, on the other hand, by external economic shocks (pandemic restrictions and "total" sanctions against Russia) unprecedented in the 21st century. The problems of interregional interactions, the effects of sanctions shocks, and institutional transformation of the branches of specialization are studied. The problems of social environment development in the macro-region and the demographic trends emerging in it are outlined. The author analyzes the problems and prospects of economic development and integration of the countries in the Asia-Pacific region as an external economic environment for the Russian Far East. Estimates of the dynamics, structure, and potential of international economic cooperation of the regions of the Russian Far East in the new conditions are given.
