The history of the offered book devoted to the collection of cross pendants of the Ilim stockaded town - a unique series of masterpieces of the XVIIth and the XVIIIth centuries began in 1973. Its author - the future academician V.Molodin had to lead archaeological-ethnographic expedition to the flooded area of the Ust'-Ilimsk Hydroplant in order to carry on digs of the Ilim stockaded town situated on the territory of the contemporary Ilimsk.
