The work is the first in the Soviet and post-Soviet criminal law literature to provide a comprehensive analysis of the last codified act of the Russian Empire - the Criminal Code of 1903, 120 years since its adoption in 2023.
General questions of the philosophy of the criminal law are considered, the social and legal prerequisites for the preparation of the Code and the history of work on it are shown, characteristics of its General and Special Parts are presented, and its socio-political and criminal-legal significance is assessed.
The text of the Criminal Code of 1903 is given in the appendix, since it has not been published in Soviet and post-Soviet literature. This will enable the reader to refer directly to the legislative act when necessary.
