Contributions to the history of the LGBT movement in Slovenia 1984 – 2024, compiled by Natasa Velikonja, do not begin with the first Magnus festival in 1984, but with the year 1532, with the New Age criminal legislation of Charles V, which of course is not the first code prohibiting homosexual relations in European society.
This entire long historical series demonstrates the criminal treatment of the authorities towards non-normative sexual acts and identities. This criminality of the authorities remains unchanged, and even if at least in these places they no longer expel us, do not behead us and burn us at the stake, do not send us to prisons and destroy our lives with public pogroms, the elementary belittling, in fact contempt, of the authorities remains the same. We are aware: in periods of social aggravation, we LGBT populations are still the first on the list of the unwanted and persecuted. Our real consciousness is constantly ready for a new pogrom.
