The Aleksinsky district of the Russian state, located in the Upper Oka region, was formed on the basis of part of the estates bequeathed together with the town of Aleksin by the Moscow Grand Prince Ivan III to his son Andrei in 1503. The published census description of the Aleksinsky district of 1627/28-1628/29 contains extensive information on the composition of its landowners and toponymy. The source includes materials on all the lands of the district, except for the palace lands. The publication is provided with name and geographical indices.
