The brownie remains the most popular folklore character to this day. This book tells us about the origins of this image, its functions, the ways of interaction with a person, and most importantly, what happens to it when it penetrates into the individual author's work. The authors offer an original method for analyzing folklore images in literature, creating a cultural matrix of the "brownie" and imposing it on works of the 18th-21st centuries.
