The monograph presents the solution of the scientific problem - the development of the theory of urban development of Belarus in the Renaissance and Enlightenment (second half of the XVI - first half of the XIX century). For the first time, the richest and nationally specific urban planning art of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism in its interaction with the architecture of Western Europe and Russia was analyzed and summarized. On the basis of research of 115 urban settlements of Belarus, analysis of about 650 archival historical-cartographic and other pictorial documents, performance of more than 200 graphic reconstructions and graphoanalytical constructions regularities of the organization of settlements are revealed: genetic, stylistic, functional, morphological, compositional, metrological. One of the discoveries of the work is the identification of the features of cities as built like early Christian capitals and biblical images.
The monograph, the result of almost 50 years of scientific activity of the author, is aimed at preserving the national cultural heritage, disseminating information about it in the world community, strengthening ties with other countries.
