The book is composed of selected literary portraits of Kazimir Svayak, Uladzimir Zhilka, Mihas Vasilko, Maksim Tank, Valyantsin Taulay, Mykola Orochka, Nilo Gilevich and other Belarusian poets with complex and tortuous biographies. Their creativity is determined by the originality of the artistic worldview and thinking, the sacrifice of serving one's spiritual and moral ideal and civic and patriotic duty.
Using archival and epistolary primary sources, quoting fragments of his conversations with writers, the author illuminates new pages of the literary heritage of Western Belarus, their connections with the literary and artistic process in the BSSR, examines the main stages of the ideological and aesthetic development of poets, analyzes the peculiarities of their spiritual and philosophical views, reveals contribution of artists to the literary history of Belarus.
