Merchant's wife A. I. Shekhtel is a close relative of the outstanding architect of the Silver Age, Franz Osipovich Shekhtel. She was a prominent figure in Saratov's public life in the 1840s and 1870s. Of undoubted interest are the "Kitchen notes by A. I. Shekhtel 1881", which contains the lost culinary recipes of the Volga Germans and Saratov merchants of the middle of the XIX century. The bulk of the materials and photographs presented in the book are being published for the first time. Author: Andrey Evgenievich Mushta is a famous Saratov architect and publicist.
