A.Pozdneev (1851-1920) is an outstanding Russian orientalist, great specialist in Mongolian culture and Buddhism, the author of the books "Mongolia and Mongols", "The Life of Buddhistic Monasteries and Clergy in Mongolia", etc. He left a huge scientific heritage, including a rich collection of Buddhistic sculpture and icons. The book narrates about Pozdneev's life and investigations, the history of his collection. For the first time a complete catalogue of the sculpture and the archival documents that inform about the hard destiny of the collection are published.
