Be inspired by illustrations of Slovak folk embroidery from 100 villages in Slovakia and get to know the stories of 100 people behind them. Almost two years ago, I set out on a journey across Slovakia and mapped traditional embroideries from 100 villages in Slovakia. But it wasn't just the ornaments that interested me, but also the stories of the people behind them. The result was a big 4-pound book full of patterns, colours and stories. Some of the women still have their costumes in chests. When the chest was opened in front of me, my eyes lit up and I started pulling out one piece after another. AHA100 is supposed to represent such a chest full of embroideries. Each village is represented by a graphic with an illustration on one side and storytelling and reminiscing on the other. In its creation we have used several types of printing, varnish or die-cuts to make the illustrations closer to the embroidery technique. Several types of paper are used to resemble the different textures of the underlying fabric.
