In the book, the author reconstructs the high-profile trial of 1904 in Königsberg, which went down in the history of Prussian justice under the name "The Trial of the Secret Society".
The Königsberg prosecutor's office accused citizens of Prussia of insulting the majesty of the Emperor of All Russia and participating in sending revolutionary (inflammatory) literature to the Russian Empire. The lawyers of the trial managed to invisibly seat the German Kaiser Wilhelm II and the Emperor of All Russia Nicholas II in the dock. The trial with the virtual participation of two famous and unloved royal persons in the world attracted great attention from the world community. The acquittals of the Königsberg court became a major European sensation of the era.
The book is based on the memoirs of the participants in the trial and archival materials. The course of the unsuccessful trial for Prussian justice is described, the behavior of the accused in court and its influence on the First Russian Revolution of 1905-1907.
