This is a documentary memoirs-story, which covers the period from the 1930s till the present days. However, the author’s “memoirs” go beyond the scope of the biographic narration. The book reveals characters, doings and fates of his contemporaries, friends of childhood and youth, and other interesting and prominent people he had an opportunity to meet. The author shows, what was dear to his generation and what they continue caring for nowadays. Unwillingly he puts the readers on pondering over vitally important questions. The book is penetrated with the author’s sense of pride in his military occupation, patriotism and concern about the fortune of Russia. Of particular interest are the author’s memoirs about the little-known facts and events, which took place in Afghanistan before the deployment of the soviet troops, in which he took part during the period of 1975-1979.
