The author of the book - Hendrik Arro who suffered from the repressions of totalitarian regime. In 1950 he was accused of rendering Fascist invaders assistance and sentenced to 25-year- imprisonment in Siberian camps. In his memoirs H. Arro describes the horrors of Kolyma camps for political prisoners where he spent 5 years. In 1955 the government declared a general amnesty for political prisoners and Hendrik Arro was released.
