The next monograph by S.S.Bychkov, a Russian church historian, Doctor of Historian Sciences, is dedicated to biography of confessor and martyr archimandrite Tavrion (1898-1978). He was lucky to take part almost in all the significant events in the history of the Russian church in the XXth century. 19 years of his life he spent in prisons, camps and deportations. He took part in secret patriarch elections in autumn, 1926. Soon after coming from a termless deportation he became the priest of Glinskaja Pustynya, where he had been brought up. During Khruschev’s persecutions he was on service in Ufa where he resisted the closing of churches, and was deprived of registration. The last 10 years of his life he spent in Latvia, where he served as a confessor of Spaso-Preobrazhensky cloister. The author of the monograph more than once lived in the cloister for a long time and was close to archimandrite Tavrion. After the priest’s death he collected biographical materials about life of the monk.
