Memoirs by Lazar' Berman are a sort of saga about a tragic destiny of a musician in Soviet Russia. In reconstruction of a colorful picture of a cultural life in the late XXth century, the musician lifts up the curtain over the political secrets, secrets of contest "off-stage life" and activities of western impresarios, and draws the portraits of the musicians whom he contacted with: V.Gorovits, V.Sofronitsky, S.Rikhter and others.
