The novel by Mikhail Shchukin is dedicated to the past of Siberia. The author draws a broad panorama of the life of Siberians in the late nineteenth century. Coachmen, merchants, villagers, convicts, immigrants - all of them are shown on the pages of the novel brightly, vividly and figuratively. Mikhail Nikolayevich Shchukin (born October 3, 1953) is a Russian writer, member of the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation. In 1995, he became one of the founders of the publishing house Sibirskaya Gornitsa. Since 2014, he has been the editor-in-chief of the Siberian Lights magazine, a laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize.
