The book is dedicated to Stepan Mykhailovych Iampol'skyi, a Ukrainian scientist-economist who was the rector (director) of the L'viv Polytechnic Institute in 1944–1953, during the Stalinist years.
In the “Iampol'skyi context” the theme of two wars – the Second World War and the Russian-Ukrainian war of the 21st century – is heard. The biography has branched storylines connected with the names of Petro Shelest, Ihor Kurchatov, and even Stanislav Uliam.
