This book is dedicated to the study of the specifics of genesis and
evolution of "wine", one of the central and generic themes of the Persian-Tajik
literature. Through the prism of the wine, the author develops a fascinating,
scientifically-informed and deeply conceptual study of the poetic structures of
the Persian-Tajik classical poetry. The book considers a huge corpus of ancient
and medieval Persian literature, offers a persuasive and multidimensional
analysis of a wide variety of Persian-Tajik Sufi poems, reveals the relationship
between them, and delineates the evolution of basic motivations and themes in
classical poetry. The author, in addition to the works of literary scholars,
engages with the latest discourses of several disciplines of the modern
humanities – religious studies, anthropology, philosophy and psychology.
