The collection is a continuation of the previously released book by N. Petrov and K. Skorkin "Who was at the head of the NKVD in 1934 - 1941" (Moscow, 1999) and contains information on the structure and staffing of the State security bodies of the USSR from February, 1941 to March, 1954, and brief biographies of the heads of the NKGB (1941), the NKVD (1941 - 1943), NKGB - MGB (1943 - 1953) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (1953 - 1954) from People's Commissars ministers to heads of independent departments.
