A book of Memoirs of Ivonka Survilla, President-in-Exile of the Council (Rada) of the Belarusian Democratic Republic (BNR). In 1918 the independent state of BNR was founded, but although it had its own ministers and ambassadors, and its sovereignty was recognized by several European countries, it survived for a mere nine months, being liquidated from Moscow. Survilla attemts to answer the question: what might unite the Belarusian people in their quest toward democracy.
