Viktor Domontovych (real name Viktor Platonovych Petrov (1894-1969)) is a Ukrainian writer, philosopher, social anthropologist, literary critic, archaeologist, historian and cultural scientist; doctor of historical and philological sciences. Viktor Platonovych Petrov (Domontovych) is a scientist who confirmed the concept of the origin of the Ukrainian people with his work, a writer who exposed the crimes of the Bolshevik-Stalin regime against the Ukrainian intelligentsia, Ukrainian culture, and the Ukrainian people with his works. His contribution to the rescue from the physical and complete destruction by the Nazis of an entire nation — the Karaites — has not yet been fully appreciated. Together with Valerian Pidmohylyny, Domontovych started the genre of the Ukrainian intellectual novel, as well as the genre of the novelized biography.
