The monograph examines the views of American journalists on the socioeconomic development of Russia in the 20th century. The work shows how their attitude towards Russia has evolved over the course of the 20th century: from the belief in closer economic cooperation in 1917 to the little-encouraging reports from the provinces in the last years of perestroika. The work of special correspondents in Moscow is shown in context of the Cold War.
