The study of the history and life of the Old Believers is the most important aspect for modern historians-ethnographers, religious scholars, folklorists and local lore specialists. The book includes stories about the Veselye gory (Merry Mountains) - the places most revered by the Ural Old Believers - written by eyewitnesses and participants in pilgrimages that took place at the beginning of the 20th century. Most of the works are first published more than a hundred years after their first publication.
