"Youth of Vasyl Sheremeta" is an autobiographical novel by Ulas Samchuk about the life of Ukrainian high school youth of the 1920s. The novel is a kind of plot continuation of the trilogy "Volyn". The story covers one school year of students of the Ukrainian gymnasium, during which their psychological development is completed, the worldview of young people, who are entering their youth, physical and spiritual maturity, is being formed. The main character Vasyl Sheremeta is intensely searching for the truth, his way in life. The novel "What does not heal the fire" is dedicated to the events of World War II, in particular the activities of the UPA. In this work, the author created the image of a warrior-defender Yakov Balaba, brought up in the Ukrainian tradition, thanks to which a huge experience of military prowess and sacrificial heroism is accumulated.
