The book for the first time published previously classified materials from the former archives of the KGB of the USSR, relating to the criminal case against Valentin Moroz (1936-2019) - one of the leaders of Ukrainian dissent, a prominent historian and publicist, a true symbol of the national movement of the 1970s. The publication focuses on the trial of V. Moroz in 1970 in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. This massacre of the dissident was one of the most important events in the Ukrainian national movement of the 1950s and 1980s in Prykarpattia. It received all-Ukrainian and international publicity, helped to draw the world's attention to the problem of Ukraine's enslaved position in the Soviet Union. The results of the process were an unprecedented mobilization of both members of the Ukrainian dissident movement and the Ukrainian diaspora in all countries of the world, and large-scale campaigns in defense of the repressed historian.
