The monograph studies peculiarities of legal regulation of university education in the Russian Empire. The author focuses attention on the few hundreds of legal statutes addressed to definite universities, adopted according to the initiative and on the means of the state, and studies the level of that statutes, its forms, meaning, systematization, defines the main substantial lines of legal regulation, among which pays special attention to universities management. The work in common characterizes policy of the Russian state in the sphere of education in the XVIIIth – the beginning of the XXth centuries.
