The directory contains information about the destinies and exploits of over 15,000 natives of the Belarusian land who distinguished themselves on the battlefields of the First World War of 1914-1918. and awarded for their military work with high military awards - St. George's crosses and medals. The 1st volume included about 3000 personalities. More than 400 Belarusian soldiers were holders of the highest 1st degree of the Cross of St. George. This volume features 116 such heroes. The appendix contains excerpts from the Statute of the Order of St. Great Martyr and Victorious George.
The brief biographical sketches are based on data from Russian and Belarusian archives (RGVIA, RGVA, RGAVMF, RGIA, NIAB in Minsk and NIAB in Grodno).
