During 2022–2024, journalist Svitlana Oslavska documented testimonies of war crimes committed by the Russians in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The author spoke with survivors in Snihurivka, Shevchenkove, Iahidne, and other towns and villages that survived the occupation. These people literally experienced the terror of the Russian invasion firsthand. They witnessed their loved ones being shot. How houses, streets, and entire cities were destroyed. They experienced torture and inhumane treatment, kidnapping, and rape. But the Russians failed to deprive these people of their dignity.
