The book uses many examples to analyze the problem of relations between Ukrainian and Polish intellectuals during the second half of the XIX - first third of the XX century. Meaningful set of causes and factors that gave rise to conflict situations; their typology and peculiarities of the course are clarified. Practices of establishing mutual understanding and forms of cooperation are analyzed. Research is a mutual reception of scientific, journalistic and socio-political activities. The Ukrainian and Polish discourses of the Eastern European region of the past are reproduced.
