The prime objective of the study, based on the documental sources, is to disprove the stereotypical representation of czar Fedor Ivanovich as a week and passive person, and Boris Godunov as a powerful tyrant and regicide. These images, borrowed from the writings by foreign authors should be analyzed in the context of the intense intrastate and international political struggle during the time of troubles.
