Slovak dialectology, as one of the many scientific and many linguistic disciplines, cannot complain about a lack of hidden treasures. On a small piece of land inhabited by the Slovak language, it inherited a rich dialect diversity in all language levels. The diversity that has been transformed in the folk consciousness into the knowledge 'Each village - a different language.' The diversity whose roots hidden beneath the surface unite the history of society, the country and the language. Perhaps that is why Slovak dialectology has attracted the curiosity and interest of many researchers, collectors and important scientific personalities and has become part of their personal lives. One of them is prom. fil. Adriana Ferencikova, CSc., who completely connected her personal life with the life of her discipline and therefore this publication was created in her honor. A. Ferencikova participated in the creation of all major works that Slovak dialectology presents today - the Atlas of the Slovak Language, the Dictionary of Slovak Dialects and, in a broader context, the volumes of the Slavic Language Atlas.
