Daniel Gottlieb Messerschmidt (1685 –1735) was a German physician, naturalist and geographer and among the first to conduct a scientific exploration of Siberia, which led to the unearthing of the first fossil mammoth. The diary tells about everyday life, rituals of the indigenous inhabitants of the southern regions (Tatars, Arintsy, Tamasins) and the North (Ostyaks, Tungus, Evenks), about how their dwellings look like and a settlement in the first quarter of the 18th century. Based on archive material.
