The Warsaw Uprising in 100 Objects is not an ordinary photo album. It is a new way of telling the social, political, military, technical and cultural history of the Uprising. Each of the objects shown tells a story that is difficult to understand without the proper context. Sometimes ordinary objects were promoted to witnesses of great history. The Warsaw Uprising still evokes heated emotions, often across traditional political divisions. Some claim that it only brought the destruction of Warsaw and a hecatomb of civilian victims - others maintain that it stopped the Sovietization of Poland. Our book does not contribute any new political or historical commentary to this dispute. Instead, it brings closer the time of trial and honor through objects, things used by the insurgents, soldiers rushing to help Warsaw and ordinary residents.
